Suboxone Benefits or Uses

Suboxone is an FDA-approved prescription drug as it can treat some medical conditions.  You may use Suboxone as off-label for several medical conditions.

Here are some of the most common uses and benefits of Suboxone.

·       Opioid Dependence

The FDA-approved drug is an effective treatment to reduce opioid dependence. The American Society of AddictionMedication recommends Suboxone for reducuding opioid addiction. The drug efficiently treats opioid dependence and reduces the withdrawal symptoms that may occur when you stop using opioids.

·       Withdrawal Symptoms

As mentioned above, Suboxone can help you manage mild to severe symptoms of opioid withdrawal. The drug can be a part of your detoxification program. It can help you reduce even the severe symptoms.

Unlike the detoxification program, which is generally a short inpatient treatment plan, opioid dependence treatment is a long-term approach. It reduces drug dependency with an outpatient treatment plan.

·        Pain Reduction

Sometimes, addiction experts use Suboxone to treat pain. This benefit is controversial and requires more scientific evidence to show how it works to reduce pain. However, a bulk of anecdotal evidence shows that Suboxone may help people reduce both opioid dependence and chronic pain.

Buprenorphine, the drug in Suboxone, is also effective in managing pain.
